How to manage Back-to-School Stress

We all knew the day was coming… the date was marked on our calendars, and most of us spent quite a bit of money and time walking down store aisles stocking up on new supplies and clothes. Yet, somehow, the tidal wave of back-to-school week came crashing in hard, and fighting through the strong current, we are finally able to make it to the surface to catch a breath.

Morning routines seem more hectic for everyone in the family. In the hustle of making sure you’re fully dressed, have everything you need packed for the day and on-time; stress is almost inevitable. Luckily, there are ways to keep the back-to-school stress levels at bay with a few minor adjustments to your new daily routine.

Keep a Schedule

How do you manage to squeeze in sleep, meals, fitness, school, sports & errands into your week? Plan it out, write it down and keep that schedule close so that you can easily refer to it when needed.

Prioritize Sleep

Check the schedule. What time bed-time? Oh, 9:00pm you say? Great! Now stick to it! Getting enough sleep is essential for your body’s overall health (and your sanity) so it should definitely take priority on your schedule.

Make Time for a Healthy Breakfast

Studies suggest that processed foods & sugars, found in quick-and-convenient breakfast alternatives, can negatively impact your behavior, well-being and health including increasing anxiety chemicals in the brain. Although it may require you to wake up a little earlier in the morning, a well-balanced breakfast, will help make you feel much better throughout the day.

Stay Physically Active

We know your day was long & exhausting, that lounging on the couch for the rest of the night while watching your favorite tv shows & eating popcorn can be very tempting. But if you’re looking to reduce stress, increase your energy level for the days to come and live a healthy life – we challenge you to exercise!

Regular Chiropractic Visits

One way to relieve back-to-school stress is with chiropractic adjustments. During your exam at Petett Chiropractic, your Renton chiropractors will ask you a series of questions to determine the contributing factors of any pain or discomfort. From there, they will create a plan to help eliminate those issues with natural chiropractic adjustments.
